AI Music Lo-fi

Lo-fi is background music for studying, working, or relaxing: slow beats, warm sounds, soft vocals.

2 songs. Create one like this.

On MuziAI, lo-fi is the most compact genre: both AI-sung sample songs sit at 72 BPM, the median is just 58 bars (the lowest of the library's 19 genres), and choruses last only 4 to 6 bars. Two songs is a very small sample; this describes MuziAI's samples, not a rule about lo-fi.

Handle the 0.49 with care. It is the median of 0.98 (Đêm mưa học bài) and 0.0 (Ban Công Hoàng Hôn, where no chords were recorded). The song with chord data changes almost exactly one chord per bar, like pop (1.02) and city pop (0.99), so "lo-fi has the fewest chords" would be a misreading. On length, lo-fi runs 5 bars shorter than ballad at the median (63, also all 72 BPM) and 19 bars shorter than jazz.

How MuziAI builds this genre

The cluster Lo-fi hip hop, chill, mellow piano, soft drums, warm vinyl texture opens the English style description sent to the singing model. The two samples added:

  • Đêm mưa học bài: chill, relaxed, laid-back, piano, breathy intimate vocals, a fade-out ending, female vocal.
  • Ban Công Hoàng Hôn: peaceful, calm, gentle, acoustic guitar, piano, breathy intimate vocals, male vocal.

Chill appears twice in the first song's description, once from the genre and once from the mood; nothing in the data suggests the repetition makes it any more relaxed.

In the sample songs

Đêm mưa học bài (F, 163 seconds) loops Gm7 C7 Fmaj7 Dm7, a ii7-V7-Imaj7-vi7 in F major. That is the same frame as the jazz sample Mưa Đêm Jazz (Fm7 Bb7 Ebmaj7 Cm7), just in another key. The form is tight: 8-bar verses, 4-bar choruses, an 8-bar bridge. All three choruses together fill only 12 of its 50 bars.

Ban Công Hoàng Hôn (F#, 221 seconds) is 58 seconds longer at the same 72 BPM, because its verses are twice as long (16 bars) and its choruses run 6 bars. Its vocal range is also wider, 22 semitones, despite the breathy delivery.

So the two differ in verse and chorus length, not tempo. In these samples, structure decides length.

How to get a better result

  1. Choose the Slow tempo (72 BPM) to stay close to the samples; each bar lasts about 3.3 seconds.
  2. Control length through the verses: 8-bar verses gave about 2 minutes 43 seconds, 16-bar verses about 3 minutes 41 seconds.
  3. Keep the chorus short; both samples use 4 to 6 bars. The lyrics writer can draft one for you to trim.
  4. For study music with no vocal at all, use the Instrumental tab of the music generator instead of writing sparse lyrics.
  5. For jazz-style changes like Đêm mưa học bài, open it in the sample library and use "Sing new lyrics to this sheet".

Limits

Two songs, one language, one tempo: not enough to say lo-fi on MuziAI is always slow or always short. The 72 BPM is the Slow setting the creator picked; 51 of the library's 58 samples sit exactly on one of the tool's three tempos (72, 100, 128), and there is no lo-fi sample at Medium or Fast to compare. None of these numbers capture the vinyl crackle or warmth you actually hear.
