MuziAI research
Measurements we ran ourselves while building MuziAI: method, numbers, and what did not work.
Does AI really sing over your chords? We measured itGive the singing model a score and the result follows the original chords at 0.922 with English lyrics and 0.809 with Vietnamese; without a score it drops to 0.546, below a 0.656 floor. The vocal melody itself has not been measured yet.
Vietnamese sung by AI: how many words survive?A speech recognizer recovers 78.6% to 94.7% of Vietnamese sung lyrics with every diacritic right, depending on genre, against 100% for English; ignoring diacritics it rises to 87.5% to 98.4%. Most of the gap is tone, not missing words.
Can style tags change an AI singer's voice? 14 testedWe measured 14 voice tags, two generations each. Tags can shift clarity, brightness and roughness, but they barely control pitch and cannot produce a child's voice.
Why AI covers sound raspy, and how we measured itThe crackle left after every fix comes from the voice sample itself: the voice converter copies its roughness, and no filter afterwards removes it. A better sample is the only cure.
AI singing over your beat: why it can sound like rapA user said our sing-over-beat result “sounded like rap, with the music going one way and the words another”. The key was fine; the real causes were a late entry, speech-like delivery and a melody the tool invents.
Mixing vocals in the browser: where the targets come fromMuziAI's auto-mix does not copy how AI songs are mixed; its targets come from 144 recordings with real stems. Here are those numbers, four bugs only the test bench revealed, and why auto-tune ships switched off.
Writing ABC for an AI singer: the exact format and common mistakesThe ABC that MuziAI reads is stricter than ordinary ABC. This post gives the exact format, numbers drawn from 58 scores the machine wrote itself, and why general chat AIs get it wrong.
What Is a Rumba Rhythm? Counting the 3-3-2 Feel and Playing It on GuitarThe rumba rhythm guitarists use for slow Latin ballads splits a 4/4 bar into eight eighth notes and groups them 3+3+2. That puts the strong hits on 1, on the "and" of 2, and on 4. Count "1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &" out loud and accent those three spots. The simplest
The I-V-vi-IV Progression Explained: Why Those Four Chords Feel So FamiliarI-V-vi-IV sounds satisfying because each chord has a different job. I is home, the most stable chord in the key. V carries the strongest pull back to home. vi is a minor chord that shares two notes with home, so it sounds like a darker version of it. IV moves
How to Write a Memorable Melody: Contour, Intervals and Motifs That Stop Your Tunes WanderingA melody sticks when the listener can predict part of it and gets surprised by the rest. You get there with four habits: give each phrase a clear shape with one high point, move mostly by step and save leaps for the moments that matter, build the tune from a
How to Choose the Right Key for Your Voice: Find Your Range, Then Transpose the SongWrite down the lowest and highest notes you can sing comfortably, then find the lowest and highest notes of the song's melody. Move the whole song up or down until its top note lands at your comfortable top or a semitone below it, and check that its bottom
Major vs Minor Scales: What Actually Changes When a Melody Turns SadWhen a scale goes from major to minor on the same starting note, three of its seven notes drop by one semitone. In C, that means E becomes Eb, A becomes Ab and B becomes Bb. The one you hear most is the third note: in major it sits four semitones above the
The Circle of Fifths Explained: How to Find Keys and Chords That Fit TogetherFind your key on the outer ring of the circle of fifths. That key and the two keys on either side of it are the three major chords that always work together: the I chord (your key), the IV chord (one step counterclockwise) and the V chord (one step
The Pentatonic Scale Explained: How to Write Catchy Melodies With Just Five NotesYes, five notes are enough, and for a melody that keeps sounding random they are often the fix. The pentatonic scale uses degrees 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 of the major scale, which in C means C, D, E, G and A. It leaves out the 4th and the 7th, the two notes that sit
4/4 vs 3/4 vs 6/8: How to Count Each Time Signature and Why They Feel So DifferentThe top number of a time signature tells you how many counts fit in one bar, and the bottom number tells you which note gets one count. In 4/4 you count four quarter-note beats, "1 2 3 4", and beat 1 is the heaviest. In 3/4 you count three quarter-note beats,
What Is Syncopation? Why Some Songs Make You Move and How to Build That GrooveTempo sets how fast the pulse goes. Groove comes from where the notes and accents sit around that pulse. Syncopation is the main tool for this: it puts the emphasis on a weak beat or in the gap between beats, often while leaving the expected strong beat
Seventh Chords Explained: How Cmaj7, Am7 and G7 Differ From the Triads You Already PlayWhen you add a seventh, you stack one more third on top of the triad, so the chord goes from three notes to four: root, third, fifth and seventh. That new note sits either 11 half steps above the root (a major seventh) or 10 half steps above it (a minor
